History

The History Department at East Lawrence High School helps students understand the past in order to better navigate the present and future. Through the study of United States history, world history, government, and economics, students examine key events, cultures, and ideas that have shaped societies around the world. Courses emphasize critical thinking, discussion, and analysis of historical sources while encouraging students to develop informed perspectives about civic responsibility and global issues. The History Department works to prepare students to become knowledgeable citizens who understand the importance of history in shaping our communities and nation.
